There is only one voucher of wine-cups from the Watershed, collected by Melissa Islam from the entrance to Humphrey's Ranch, 12 air miles SE of Creede (Mineral Co, August 2013). It remains to be seen whether the species can tolerate the high altitude and cold winters of the Watershed. Callirhoe involucrata is a native perennial, often considered a weed because it invades gardens and roadside ditches. Its main USA distribution is central and southern Great Plains and all of Texas. It is more common in New Mexico than in Colorado, and follows the Rio Grande drainage all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.
