- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. There is only one collection of Thalictrum occidentale from the Watershed, by Jeanette Flaig, 5 miles N of South Fork (Rio Grande Co, 2003). The species is found in Washington state, Oregon, northern California, Utah, Idaho, western Montana, western Wyoming, northern Utah, and northern Colorado. The Watershed occurrence would be part of a small area (Hinsdale, Mineral, Rio Grande, and Archuleta counties) disjunct from the main USA distribution (see BONAP). There are no records farther south. Note that Ackerfield (2022) considers T. fendleri, T. venulosum, and T. occidentale part of the same species complex. In FNA the last two are differentiated from T. fendleri by their laterally uncompressed achenes.
