Comments
Brickelliastrum fendleri has no vouchers from the Watershed. The one verified photorecord, dated 2023,shows a plant on a ridge of Hicks Canyon in Conejos Co. A second photorecord, unverified, dated 2015, is from 4.9 miles southwest of South Fork in Rio Grande Co. BONAP (2022) shows the species present in only three US states: Arizona, New Mexico, and the SW tip of Texas. The species follows the Rio Grande drainage solidly from the border of Colorado down to the Big Bend country of Texas. More occurrences may be expected in the Colorado Watershed. Superficially, plants look like Brickellia grandiflora, except Brickelliastrum fendleri has mainly opposite leaves, stems with woody bases, leaves with large sharp crenations or dentations, and white florets. Note that Ackerfield 2022 indicates no presence of the species in Colorado, although SEINet has one voucher, dated 2008, from Las Animas Co, 24 miles east of the Watershed and 7 miles north of the border with New Mexico.
