- Symphoricarpos albus has been collected three times from the Watershed, once from Penitente canyon (Saguache Co, 1997), and twice from the riparian part of the La Botica site in La Jara Creek canyon, 10.8 air miles SW of Capulin (Conejos Co, 2017-2018). In Colorado S. albus is primarily a Front Range plant, but there are scattered collections westward. It has also been recorded in the Rio Grande drainage of New Mexico, at least as far as Santa Fe. The USA distribution is West Coast, across the northern third of the country, and down the Rocky Mountains through New Mexico. Note the caution of Allred et al. (2020): "It is not uncommon for any white-fruited Symphoricarpos to be identified as S. albus, but all our species produce white berries," and that would include all the species found in the Watershed.
