Tall beggarticks has been collected only once from the Watershed, in 1935 by Francis Ramaley from "bottom lands" in the town of Alamosa, possibly the floodplain of the Rio Grande. The voucher was identified by H. D. Harrington in 1949 as "closest to Bidens vulgata" (the alternative would be B. frondosa). Ramalay's find would be the only recorded occurrence in the entire Rio Grande drainage, and would lie somewhat isolated at the extreme southwest corner of the USA distribution, which covers all states except for Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, and Florida. B. vulgata is adventive in the Western states. Other locations in Colorado are in Weld, Boulder, Larimer, Douglas, and Arapahoe counties (1900-2018). Note that both Ackerfield (2020) and BONAP (2020) accept Harrington's determination.
