- Comments
- There are only scattered Watershed locations for peach-leaf willow: both sides of the Rio Grande in Alamosa (Alamosa Co, 1924); banks of the Alamosa River near La Jara (Conejos Co, 2001); west side of the town of Blanca (Costilla Co, 2001); La Baca NWR (Saguache Co, 2006, 2012); and Alamosa NWR (Alamosa Co, 2023, iNaturalist observation 184801625). Possibly these are all mature trees that were planted. Their elevation is above 7,000', which is the upper limit given by Kittel (2023). Native and fond of stream banks and flood-plains, Salix amygdaloides is spread extensively through the USA, with the exception of California and the South. It follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico and on down to the Big Bend country of Texas.
