Comments
There is only one voucher of Angelica pinnata from the Watershed, a plant found along a residential street in Monte Vista in 1939. Neither BONAP or Ackerfield accept this record, and indeed the location does not fit the plant's typical habitat, which is moist montane and subalpine woodland and meadows. Small-leaf angelica has been vouchered, however, from areas west of the Divide close to the Watershed, in Hinsdale, Mineral, and Archuleta counties. Also the species has been recorded from the Rio Grande drainage of New Mexico, in Rio Arriba, Taos, and Sandoval counties. It is of little surprise that two recent photorecords (2022 and 2025) record Angelica pinnata from Conejos Co, near the Cumbres and Toltectrailway station (see photorecords by Mary E. McDonald). The Watershed would lie at the southwest corner of the USA distribution, which includes the Rocky Mountains, most of Utah, and parts of northern Arizona and New Mexico.
