Until the photorecord of August, 2022, Russian pigweed has not been reported from the Watershed, indeed from the entire Rio Grande drainage. In 1999 it was collected in Mineral County just west of the Creede location, near Mineral Creek, but that is on the west slope in the San Juan River drainage. Axyris amaranthoides is an exotic, present elsewhere in the USA in very scattered locations, such as in South Park of Colorado, in northern Wisconsin, and in northern New England. It occupies waste ground, such as the turn-out for unloading and loading four-wheelers on Bachelor's Loop road above Creede where the 2022 flower was found.
