- There are no Watershed vouchers for Gaillardia pulchella. So the 2019 photorecord from Terrace Reservoir in Conejos Co and the 2021 photorecord from Antonito in Conejos Co (iNaturalist observation 90835636) stand as the only documented occurrences. The species, however, has been recorded from every county of New Mexico, including the north border counties of Rio Arriba, Taos, and Colfax ("sandy soils in disturbed and open habitats"). So the species should be expected in at least the Lower Basin of the Watershed. The species follows the Rio Grande drainage all the way through New Mexico and Texas to the Gulf of Mexico. Its USA distribution is primarily Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and the central Great Plains, with scattered locations throughout the South, and adventive occurrences in many other states. There are popular cultivars, so some of these occurrences may be escapes.
