- Bitterbrush is common on the west slope of Colorado, but SEINet lists no vouchers from the Watershed. The 2018/2021 photorecord from Conejos Co is the first documentation of Purshia tridentata from the Watershed. It would add Conejos to counties indicated in Ackerfield (2022) and BONAP (2022). Note that it is recorded from Colorado counties just to the west of Conejos Co, and just to the south in northern New Mexico counties. The species prefers dry foothill slopes. It is present in every USA state west of the Great Plains. It follows the Rio Grande drainage to Santa Fe and Sandoval counties, New Mexico, but no farther down stream.
