- There is only one herbarium voucher of Elodea befoliata from the Watershed: from a Lower Silver Lakes pond 5.15 miles W of Terrace Reservoir (Conejos Co, 1990). In addition there are two photorecords: from Home Lake just east of Monte Vista (Rio Grande Co, 2020) and from Million Reservoir (Rio Grande Co, 2020). Heil et al. (2013) say E. bifoliata is more common than E. canadensis in the USA, but it seems the reverse is true in the Watershed. E. bifoliata is recorded from Rio Arriba and Sandoval counties of New Mexico but no farther down the Rio Grande drainage. Its USA range consists of very scattered locations in all Western and upper Great Plains states.
