- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Of this dwarf mistletoe, there are only four records: Alamosa Co, trailhead for Mosca Creek trail by the Great Sand Dunes (1974); Saguache Co, 5 miles E of North pass (1947); Mineral Co, 13 miles SW of South Fork by Hwy 160 (1978); Conejos Co, La Botica, La Jara canyon (2020). The plant is parasitic on Pseudotsuga menziesii, and sometimes on Abies concolor when associated with P. menziesii. Possibly it is more common in the Watershed than this scant record suggests. It is an early bloomer and grows in a direction the opposite that most flower photographers and collectors are looking. In the USA the plant occurs in the Cascades and the Rockies. It follows the Rio Grande drainage down through New Mexico to the Mexican border and into west Texas.
