- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Verbena hastata has two Watershed locations: Rio Grande National Forest: Ranger Residence Plot No. 9 (1931, Rio Grande Co); Ute Creek near Ft. Garland (1934, Costilla Co). BONAP shows Conejos Co, with no vouchers in SEINet. In Colorado this is largely a Plains flower that often grows on disturbed ground. It's easily confused with V. macdougalii. The species has been recorded from every USA state, with a concentration in the Great Plains and eastward. It is present in Santa Fe, Socorro, and Doña Ana counties of New Mexico, but not farther down the Rio Grande drainage.
