- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Sparganium angustifolium has been collected from a few scattered locations around the Watershed, usually by or in ponds, sometimes beaver ponds. There is some indication that this aquatic may also occupy ditches. Sample locations are the Forbes Ranch (Costillla Co, 1999), Spectacle Lake (Conejos Co, 2004), and the Soward Ranch 11 air miles SSW of Creede (Mineral Co). Except for the Forbes Ranch location, all lie on the west side of the Valley. The USA distribution covers all Western states, as well as the Great Lakes region on into Maine. Sparganium angustifolium follows the Rio Grande drainage of New Mexico as far south as Sandoval Co, but no farther down stream.
