- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. In the Watershed alpine meadow-rue has not been often collected. It is a small spindly plant and may easily go unnoticed. Its most common habitat is wet, flat tundra niches, on both sides of the Valley. Although it extends down a short distance into the Rio Grande Cristos of New Mexico, that is about the southeastern extent of its USA distribution, which has scattered locations in the Rocky Mountains and the intermountain regions.
