Elephanthead is the most commonly collected of Watershed louseworts, a familiar sight in all the mountain regions and passes around the Valley, by seeps, streams, wet meadows, alpine bogs, etc. The occurrences in the Rio Grande drainage partway down into New Mexico mark the southeast corner of the USA range. Little surprise that botanists have proposed new genera for this distinctive member of the broomrape family.
