- Ozomelis stauropetala is the somewhat less common of the two spiderworts in the Watershed, found in mesic, shady habitats, often in association with Picea. Locations are all in the San Juans south of the Rio Grande. There are none recorded from the east-side mountains. The San Juans occurrences would mark the southeast point of the USA distribution were it not for a few records from the bordering counties of Rio Arriba and Taos in New Mexico. Note that Folk and Freudenstein (2014) separated Ozomelis and Pectiantia from Mitella on phylogenetic grounds.
