- Snowball saxifrage has been frequently collected in the Watershed, from all mountain regions. It is most often found in mesic alpine meadows, but also at lower elevations in forest clearings and understory. It follows the Rio Grande drainage south about one third of the way into New Mexico. Its USA distribution is primarily the Rockies, on up to Canada.
