- Salix wolfii is an upper montane and subalpine willow found in wet meadows, often growing with S. planifolia and S. brachycarpa. In the Watershed it has been recorded only from the south San Juans. Along with a few records from Rio Arriba and Santa Fe counties of New Mexico, these observations mark the southeastern extent of the USA distribution and the extent of the presence of the species in the Rio Grande drainage.
