- Comments
- In the Watershed Pacific willow is common in riparian habitats ranging from stream sides in the Basin on up to the middle montane. Salix lasiandra is often treated as a subspecies of S. lucida. It is recorded from nearly every county in the USA west of the Great Plains, and follows the Rio Grande drainage south through two thirds of New Mexico. Note that S. lasiandra is unusual among Salix species in that it is readily identified, by its leaf-like stipules. Also note that Kittel (2023) shows two varieties of S. lasiandra both present in all Watershed counties: var. caudata and var. lasiandra.
