- Comments
- In the Watershed, shortfruit willow is common in high montane and subalpine wet meadows, lake sides, and river banks, often growing in thickets alongside Salix glauca, which is only one of several Watershed species with which S. brachycarpus is known to hybridize. The USA distribution of S. brachycarpa is Central and Northern Rockies. Northern New Mexico marks the edge of its southernmost range.
