- Previously thought to be confined to one occurrence in Conejos Co, Arizona willow has recently been recorded from at least two other locations in that county. All the populations are along La Manga Creek (Smith, Aquilegia, 2022, p. 6). In New Mexico the species has been recorded, rarely, from the subalpine in the northern San Juans and the Rio Grande drainage Cristos. Its USA range is scattered populations in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado (see USDA, Salix arizonica—Assessment of at-risk species per FSH 1909.12.5).
