- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. For spiral ditchgrass there are only two Watershed locations, both in the Upper Basin: 5 miles S of Alamosa, rooting 10 inches under water (1952); and Blanca Wetlands Recreation Area near the North Mallard parking area, along a ditch feeding Widgeon Fish Pond #1 (2015). Allred et al. (2020) locate it in many counties of New Mexico, including Rio Grande drainage counties. It follows the drainage, in patches, down the Rio Grande to the Gulf. It as been found in all USA states W of the Mississippi. This aquatic is probably more common in the Watershed Basins than this record indicates. It needs focused looking for.
