- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. For cleavers there are only two Watershed locations: Saguache Co, Alder Creek, south of Poncha Pass (1998), and Costilla Co, south of Ft. Garland (1998)—both in lower-montane forest openings. With so few records, the Watershed makes an unusual gap in the distribution of this common coast-to-coast USA bedstraw. Galium aparine follows the Rio Grande drainage in New Mexico from Taos Co to the Mexican border, with a couple of locations on down the Rio Grande, some at the Gulf.
