- Of mountain ash there are few Watershed locations, all in the south San Juans: Bear Lake and East Fork of Rio Chama (Conejos Co, 1988); Wolf Creek pass (Mineral Co, 1924) and the chain-up station on Hwy 160 a few miles east of Wolf Creek Pass (Mineral Co, 2002). The latest occurrence is documented by a photorecord taken on the east flank of Del Norte peak south of South Fork by Russell Clark(11 Sept 2022, iNaturalist observation 134667882). Aside from some Front Range records, the Watershed is about as far east as the USA distribution of Sorbus scopulina goes. The tree is fairly common in the San Juan River drainage. It has been recorded from the Rio Grande drainage of New Mexico down to Torrance Co, but no farther down stream.
