- Sibbaldia procumbens has been observed often in the Watershed, from all mountain regions, upper montane to tundra, usually growing in open terrain. It is a highly successful plant, present in all mountain ranges of the western USA states (also in the northern hemisphere around the world). However, it follows the Rio Grande drainage only down to Santa Fe Co, New Mexico. Note that taxonomists have argued that the genus Sibbaldia belongs in Potentilla, but currents most authorities keep the two genera separate (FNA, BONAP, Allred et al., Ackerfield).
