- Comments
- In the Watershed thimbleberry is found only in the south San Juans, although in New Mexico it follows the Rio Grande down on both sides of the river. It grows in ravines, moist understory, shaded bases of outcrops, etc. The USA distribution of Rubus nutkanus covers all states west of the Great Plains. It follows the Rio Grande drainage in New Mexico down to Otero Co, but not farther down stream. Note that the nomenclature controversy—Rosa nutkanus or Rosa parviflorus—is not yet resolved.
