- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. In 1986 Patricia P. Douglas found pin-cherry 2 miles W of Aspen Glade cpgd and in 1987 near Massey Gulch. Both locations are on the Conejos River along Hwy 17 in Conejos Co. They would mark the south edge of a population isolated from the USA distribution, a population largely running down the Front Range of Colorado. There are patchy occurrences of prunus pensylvanica in Wyoming, Montana, and the northern Great Plains, but the main region is the Great Lakes, New England, and the Appalachians. The Conejos Co locations are the only ones in the entire Rio Grande drainage.
