NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. For Potentilla subgorodkovii there are two Watershed locations, Comanche Peak in the north Cristos (1999), and Palomino Mountain in the San Juans (Mineral Co, 2003). This is a problematical species. FNA says it may represent a hybrid in Alaska and the Yukon, yet populations farther south are out of reach of the potential parents (from the P. uniflora/villosa group) and therefore may represent "a distinct species, not yet described." Besides Saguache Co, BONAP shows Rio Grande, Hinsdale, and Costilla counties, with no SEINet vouchers. BONAP also shows Colfax Co in New Mexico, which may or may not lie in the Rio Grande drainage. Its USA ramge consists of isolated locations scattered through the Rocky Mountains to the Canadian border, and the Cascades of northern Washington. Note that Ackerfield (2020) desccribes P. subgorodkovii as usually forming large mats, whereas P. nivea does not.
