- Comments
- Potentilla hippiana has been very often recorded in the Watershed, found in a wide variety of habitats, most commonly in the montane by creeks and lakes. There are no records from the Culebras, but many from the Cristos of New Mexico, where the species follows the Rio Grande drainage down to Mexico. It is mainly a Rockies cinquefoil, ranging from the Canadian to the Mexican border but no farther down stream. Note that the features of the plant vary widely, and it is known to hybridize with P. pulcherrima (see Potentilla hippiana X pulcherrima).
