- Woolly cinquefoil prefers open slopes of grass and sagebrush, from the montane to the tundra. It has been frequently collected in all mountain areas of the Valley, usually fairly early in the collecting season (as its common name indicates). Potentilla concinna has a wide USA distribution, as cinquefoils go, all mountain regions west of the Great Plains except for the Pacific coastal ranges. It follows the Rio Grande drainage down to Sierra Co of New Mexico.
