- So far there are only 6 locations for elegant cinquefoil in the Watershed: Fulcher Gulch 13 miles SW of Monte Vista in Rio Grande Co, Wagon Wheel Gap in Mineral Co, Los Mogotes in Conejos Co, Grayback Mountain in Rio Grande Co (photorecord), Lost Lake SE of South Fork in Rio Grande Co (photorecord), and Middle San Francisco Creek S of Del Norte in Rio Grande Co (photorecord). Potentilla bicrenata seems to like open rocky soil with some volcanic substrate. These Watershed occurrences and a few in New Mexico mark the SE edge of the USA distribution, which is largely restricted to Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. It follows the Rio Grande drainage south only to Socorro Co, New Mexico.
