- For over a century Potentilla ambigens has been regularly collected in the vicinity of Wagon Wheel Gap (Mineral Co, both sides of the Rio Grande). Two recent observations have extended the range a bit: Farmers trailhead, 2.57 air miles southeast of Creede (July 2020, Mineral Co; see photorecords here), and 5 kilometers west of Baldy Mountain (August 2024, Mineral Co; iNaturalist observation # 234227313). There are no other reported occurrences from the Watershed. This unusual Potentilla is occasionally collected from the Rio Grande drainage of New Mexico down to the border with Texas (but not farther down stream). The USA distribution is the Southern Rockies of New Mexico, Colorado, and one county in south Wyoming.
