- For over a century Potentilla ambigens has been regularly collected in the vicinity of Wagon Wheel Gap (both sides of the Rio Grande), but nowhere else in the Watershed. This unusual Potentilla is occasionally collected in the Rio Grande drainage of New Mexico down to the border with Texas (but not farther down stream). The USA distribution is the Southern Rockies of New Mexico, Colorado, and one county in south Wyoming.
