NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. Alpine ivesia is an uncommon plant in the Watershed, so far with only 7 locations, most dry inclines and ridges in the subalpine and alpine in the north Cristos, west of Platoro and near Elwood pass in the south San Juans, or on Sheep Mountain in the Garitas. These occurrences mark the southeast corner of the USA distribution, which covers high country in all states west of the Great Plains except for Arizona and New Mexico. The leaves and their lobes form tight clusters, hence the common name "mousetail"—no botanical connection with the genus Myosurus in Ranunculaceae.
