- Comments
- Ocean spray occupies rocky hillsides and outcrops at mid-elevations, all around the Valley. It is not recorded from the Culebras, but commonly so from the Rio Grande drainage Cristos of New Mexico. Some authorities treat this taxon, Holodiscus dumosus, as a variety of Holodiscus discolor. BONAP treats the two as separate species, and shows H. dumosus as the only one present in the Watershed. Holodiscus dumosus (as distinct from H. discolor) can be found in all USA states west of the Great Plains except for Montana and Washington. It follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico on down to the Big Bend country of Texas.
