- Prairie smoke is common in the Watershed, found in drier habitats than are other of the Watershed Geums, such as well-drained meadows. But all records of Geum triflorum are from the west-side mountains. In Colorado this is predominantly a west-slope plant, but is occasionally found on the east slope. It has been fairly often collected from the Cristos of New Mexico, which mark the southernmost edge of its USA distribution.
