- In the Watershed Trautvetteria caroliniensis has been recorded regularly from forest understory and sometimes by lake and stream edges, but only from a fairly restricted area in the Rio Chama and Conejos River drainages (Archuleta Co and Conejos Co). It is also found in the New Mexico Rio Grande drainage, from the Colorado border down to Socorro Co. The USA distribution is highly disjunct, with a population in the Pacific Northwest, one centered around New Mexico, and a third in the Appalachians.
