- Comments
- The few Watershed records of this early spring flower are all from the south San Juans, although Ackerfield (2022) shows Alamosa Co (with no vouchers in SEINet)—a location which would be the only one on the east side of the Rio Grande in Colorado. There are, however, records from the Rio Grande drainage Cristos of New Mexico down nearly to the Mexican border. The USA distribution is mainly the Rocky Mountains up to the Canadian border and across the northern Great Plains to the Great Lakes region. For the tangled history of the nomenclature of this species, see Al Schneider's account in his Southwest Colorado Wildflowers sites: https://www.swcoloradowildflowers.com/Blue%20Purple%20Enlarged%20Photo%20Pages/Pulsatilla%20patens.htm
