- Comments
- Marsh buttercup has been often recorded around the Valley in mesic habitats, such as beside streams and ditches, in drained pastures, etc. Although not recorded from the Culebras of Colorado, there are many records from New Mexico in and on both sides of the Rio Grand valley, and the species continues on down the drainage to the Mexican border (but no farther). This native buttercup is found in all USA states west of the Mississippi, with a scattering of records from the Great Lakes and coastal New England. Note that the removal of this species from the genera Ranunculus and Cyrtorhyncha was based on molecular analysis (Emadzade et al., 2010), and not yet accepted by some authorities (e.g., BONAP, FNA).
