- Comments
- There are not many locations in the Watershed for Scott's hairy clematis. But there is a group of records from the La Garitas, and five records west of La Veta pass (for the latest, 2022, see iNaturalist observation #125712098). Others are scattered; e.g., one record from Howard Creek in the north Cristos, and one from the south San Juans S of Del Norte. Ackerfield (2015, 2022) shows Alamosa Co, with no vouchers in SEINet. Judging from SEINet's records for Clematis hirsutissima var. scottii, this species is present in Wyoming, west South Dakota, southwest Oklahoma, south central Colorado, and northern New Mexico, where it follows the Rio Grande drainage to the Mexican border, but no farther. Note that some authorities raise this taxon to species level (e.g., Ackerfield).
