- In the Watershed, rock clematis grows in meadow meadows as well as understory of aspen and mixed conifer woods. The Watershed distribution is all on the west side except for three collections west of La Veta Pass. A Central and North Rockies species, it has been collected from the Rio Grande drainage as far south as Big Bend, Texas.
