NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. There are only three locations for candle anemone in the Watershed: La Veta Pass (Costilla Co, 1902); top of Hayden Pass (Saguache Co, 1986); and hillside above Sheep Creek 2.5 km southwest of Hwy 17 (Conejos Co, 2021). The elevation of Hayden Pass is 10,740', 1,500' above the elevation range given by Ackerfield for this species. The elevation of the Sheep Creek occurrence is 9,450' (iNaturalist observation #85286795). In Colorado, the main distribution is split between the Front Range and the western counties. But Allred et al. (2020) show the flower present in the Rio Grande drainage from Rio Arriba, Taos, and Colfax counties bordering on Colorado down to the Mexican border. These Rio Grande drainage locations mark the southernmost extent of the USA distribution, which is the Rockies and on east across the northern half of the country.
