- Northern rock-jasmine is a ubiquitous flower of the Watershed, ranging from the foothills into the alpine, in both mesic and xeric conditions, from early spring to late summer. The one Basin collection of Androsace septentrionalis came from the San Luis Hills. The species conforms to habitat and therefore is extremely variable, ranging from minute and nearly glabrous (montane meadow), to tall and lanky (subalpine rocky slopes), to thick and hirsute (alpine slopes). Except for most of northern California, Oregon, and Washington, the flower is wide spread in all Western states, as well as the upper Great Plains near the Canadian border. It follows the Rio Grande drainage almost to the Mexican border.
