NEED IN SITU PHOTOGRAPHS. Western rock-jasmine or Androsace occidentalis has only three records from the Watershed, both from Mineral Co: Farmers Creek, south of Creede (1924); Lime Creek Road, near Spar City (1981); and above Fish Lake in Archuleta Co (2003). These vouchers need to be reviewed. The third, for instance, was found at an elevation of 12,200', far above the limit of 9,500' indicated by Ackerfield (2022). To distinguish between A. occidentalis and A. septentrionais equires close inspection of the bracts at the base of the umbel (not the floral bracts). On the other hand, there is some evidence to support the presence of A. occidentalis in the Watershed. BONAP (2023) shows Alamosa, Saguache, Mineral, and Hinsdale counties with no vouchers in SEINet. Also the plant is wide spread in the Midwest, Plains, and Rockies, and follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico from Taos and Rio Arriba counties down to the Big Bend region of Texas.
