- Comments
- Alpine rock-jasmine of the Watershed has been fairly often collected from talus and rocky tundra slopes of the north Cristos and Culebras. Typical are the recent iNaturalist observation #227012134 (Zapata Lake, Alamosa Co, June 2024) and #223978399 (head waters of Garner Creek, Saguache Co, June 2024). Ackerfield and BONAP show Conejos Co, which suggests a presence in the San Juans, but there are no herbarium vouchers in SEINet from the west side of the Valley as yet. There are, however, records from both sides of the Rio Grande drainage from the northern New Mexico counties of Rio Arriba, Taos, and Colfax. These mark the southernmost edge of the USA distribution, which is scattered through the Rocky Mountains up to the Canadian border. Note that Plants of the World and Ackerfield (2022) name this taxon A. lehmanniana, reserving A. chamaejasme for Old World locations—a revision not yet accepted by FNA or BONAP.
