- The exotic common purslane can be found at low elevations all around the Valley, among volcanic rocks, consolidated sand dunes, foothill trails, house gardens, sidewalk cracks, etc. This most common of USA purslanes, sometimes listed among the top ten noxious plants, Portulaca oleracea is found in every state of the USA, and follows the Rio Grande to the Gulf of Mexico.
