- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. In the Watershed there are only two records for the distinctive Rumex venosus: Sangre de Cristo Canyon W of La Veta Pass (Ramaley 1935); “Great Sand Dunes NM” (A. C. Bauer, 1991). In Colorado this is a Plains and Eastern Slope plant that is found as far west as Huerfano Co. The presence in the Watershed needs current affirmation. According to the distribution map in BONAP, the La Veta Pass record from Costilla Co would be the only occurrence in the entire Rio Grande drainage.
