- Comments
- In the Watershed, Western dock or Rumex occidentais ranges from lower to upper montane on both sides of the Valley, in mesic habitats such as rock seeps, canyon bottoms, marshy meadows by lakes, etc. As its common and scientific names indicate, it is a Western USA plant, and follows the Rio Grande drainage through New Mexico almost to the border with Mexico. but no farther down stream. Note that using key characters to distinguish R. occidentalis, R. triangulivalvis, and R. utahensis requires a close look at the inner tepals.
