- NEED IN SITU PHOTOS. For Rumex californicus there are four Watershed locations, all on the west side of the Valley: between Del Norte and South Fork (2003); Moon Pass (2004); E of Los Pinos pass (1998); and Black Mountain Lake in Hinsdale Co (2004). Several are by roadsides. A number of older vouchers determined as R. salicifolius may be R. californicus. Does Ackerfield subsumes R. californicus under R. utahensis? BONAP and FNA treat both at the species level. The USA distribution of R. californicus, according to BONAP, covers, patchily, all states W of the Great Plains except for Arizona and New Mexico. Allred et al. (2020), however, record it from Taos and Rio Arriba counties in New Mexico.
