- Polygonum douglasii is a common Watershed knotweed, found in a wide range of habitats, xeric and mesic, usually open spaces such as forest clearings, edges of meadows, and dry hill sides. The only record from the east side of the Valley comes from west of La Veta Pass (1957), but the species has been recorded repeatedly from the Rio Grande Cristos of New Mexico. Its USA distribution covers all states west of the Great Plains, with scattered locations around the Great Lakes. It is present in the Rio Grande drainage down to Doña Ana Co, New Mexico, but not into Texas.
